Miss Universe 2008 will have a Southeast Asian flavor
this year. The 57th Miss Universe beauty pageant will be held in the Nha
Trang city of Vietnams central Khanh Hoa province on July 14,
2008. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the eastern most country on
the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia. The country enjoys bounty of
nature attracting visitors from far and wide. The topography of the
nation includes hills and densely forested mountains. Natures
splurge, rich history and culture have greatly enhanced Vietnams
potential for tourism.
The final event of Miss Universe 2008 will be held in the Nha Trang
city. However the 80 or more participants of the beauty pageant will
have the opportunity to not just remain in the final host city of the
event but also travel wide within the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The
contestants have arrived in the country since June 15, 2008 and have
been participating in various related events of the contest. They will
participate in a host of cultural and social activities such as
sightseeing, raising charity funds and fashion shows in capital city
Hanoi, southern Ho Chi Minh City, southern Binh Duong province and Nha
Trang city.
The coastal tropical country is famous for its beautiful beaches. The
Ha Long Bay in particular is a very beautiful beach of the country. The
city also boasts of mountain resorts and national forests that have
variety of tropical animals and plants. The natural settings paint a
beautiful picture of the nation with waterfalls, mountains and sea all
beckoning a visitor. The nation that has 54 ethnic groups, with their
respective languages and cultural aspects has hence a lot to offer
socially and culturally. Vietnam is none the less united by a common
shared past and the Vietnamese language. The sense of community is
prominent in the people of Vietnam which binds them together as one.
Majority of the people in the country follow the Buddhist faith, though
